We Believe
The proposed heavy-traffic bus plan does not fit a shared community vision for a quiet, safe, green neighbourhood.
A new bus plan needs to look at everything about a community, like its history, how people live, how much money they have, and the environment. It’s important to see how the plan will change people’s lives and focus on what’s most important to them.
The community should be meaningfully involved – Wolseley should decide the best option for Wolseley.
Transit planning must be about more than drawing straight lines on a map.
The Wolseley community should not be bisected by a bus thoroughfare.
A new bus plan must consider the full context – historical, social, economic, and environmental – of a community, how people’s lives are affected, and what matters to them most.
This kind of community life is an asset to the City of Winnipeg. It results in long-term home ownership, pride in community life, increased community cohesion and safety, and increased civic engagement.
We want to work with Transit planners and City Hall to ensure any new bus routes help the community, not hurt it.
